Techstars is delighted to announce the inaugural class for the Techstars Future of Longevity Accelerator, in partnership with Pivotal Ventures, an investment and incubation company created by Melinda Gates to advance social progress in the United States.
The 13-week virtual program will host companies that are providing innovative and creative solutions to address the unmet needs of individuals providing and receiving elder care. The 10 companies cover a range of sub-themes in the caregiving space, including:
Aging in place, with Braze Mobility improving the motorized wheelchair experience and Candoo Tech providing on-demand tech support to seniors;
Care coordination platforms, with ConnectCareHero offering a software solution to senior care facilities to ease the burden of identifying, scheduling, and coordinating activities and MemoryWell helping senior living facilities personalize care by documenting each resident’s life story;
Retirement 2.0, with Naborforce enabling a network of active retirees and empty nesters to find purpose engaging with independent seniors who need companionship and light assistance in their homes and UpsideHōM introducing communal living and community engagement for aging adults, addressing the pervasive issue of social isolation;
Preventive wellness, with Rubitection's medical device for early detection of bedsores, and Wysefit's exercise app tailored for adults over 50;
Inclusive design, with Authored who makes adaptive clothing designed for seniors with mobility issues that might arise from arthritis, a stroke, or dementia; and
Caregiver tools and management, with Rezilient Health who created a robotic telehealth platform that allows doctors to remotely perform physical exams and other assessments over the internet.
The founding teams will build strong relationships with thought leaders in the longevity space and leverage a mentor network of industry experts and investors. Each company will use the program to accelerate the development of their solutions to support both the aging community and their formal and family caregivers. By the end of the program — culminating in a Demo Day on December 9, 2020 — the companies will have engaged with over 100 mentors, formed deep relationships across the Techstars and Pivotal Ventures’ global networks, iterated on their product, business model and growth milestones, and mastered the ability to communicate their vision.
The 2020 Techstars Future of Longevity Class represents the experience, tenacity and deep connection to finding solutions in this space during a time when COVID-19 is having an outsized impact on seniors, caregivers and our most vulnerable communities. The class demonstrates our commitment to invest in diverse led teams that reflect the communities we serve. Seven out of ten CEOs are women and nearly half of our companies have founders who are Black or Latinx. Selecting the 2020 class of the Techstars Future of Longevity Accelerator has been extremely competitive. We are excited to welcome the Techstars Future of Longevity class of 2020:
