TORINO, Italy - April 13, 2023 - The Torino Cities of the Future Techstars Accelerator is excited to announce its Demo Day event, scheduled for May 11, 2023. The showcase event will feature 10 innovative startups from various European countries, concluding the 13-week acceleration program designed to support the next generation of entrepreneurs in diverse sectors, including mobility, sustainability, deep tech, logistics, and EdTech.
Over the past 3.5 years, Techstars in Torino has achieved remarkable success, launching the first Smart Mobility accelerator and the first international accelerator program at OGR Torino. In 2022, the program expanded to become Italy's first Smart City focused accelerator. With partnerships from local corporates and innovation hubs, such as Torino City Lab, participating companies have gained access to POC opportunities, the municipality, and corporate customers. Alumni from the past three years have raised more than $70m in funding and created 400 jobs.
Demo Day offers a unique opportunity for the participating startups to present their culminating pitch to an audience of investors, potential customers, partners, and startup actors from across Europe. The event will take place at the OGR in Turin, Italy's hub for successful entrepreneurs, and will include networking opportunities, allowing attendees to engage with startups, ask questions, and provide feedback.
The Torino Cities of the Future Techstars Accelerator has been fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Turin and beyond, thanks to the continued support from partners Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, and Fondazione CRT. Their mentorship, funding, and resources have been invaluable in helping the participating startups develop and grow their businesses.
The fourth edition of the program highlights the growing Italian Venture Capital industry, which experienced a record-breaking year in 2022, with invested capital exceeding EUR 1.8bn, representing a 48% increase compared to the previous year.
